Tricia May's oil paintings are representational, loosely painted, country landscapes and still life. Her work is fresh, colorful and joyful, with an emphasis on lighting. She likes to explore the visual excitement created by the juxtaposition of opaque and transparent paint on canvas. Also, how the use of different paint applications can infuse movement and energy into a composition.

Tricia was born in New Jersey, raised and educated in Southern California and moved with her family to Boise, Idaho in 1992.

Idaho's beautiful scenery lends itself to plein air painting, Tricia's greatest passion. "Combining painting and the outdoors is the most fulfilling way to spend a day." Many small landscapes painted outdoors become inspirations for the larger works done in her studio. She also enjoys creating colorful floral and still life paintings.

Most recently, Tricia has studied with Mustafa Keyhani and Ovanes Berberian.

Plein Air Painting trips in 2006 included a week in the Sawtooth Mountains with the Plein Air Painters of Idaho. She was also Invited by the Caswell Gallery of Jackson, to paint in The Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks during the Fall Arts Festival.
